It started as a lark; time to get my own camera after growing up using my father’s Kodak Retina rangefinder. Not knowing better, I cruised over to the store with the broadest selection, spent an hour asking questions and holding things, and ended up with a Pentax K-1000, and a Vivitar 70-210mm f/3.5 zoom. It fit my hands better than the others (Olympus was the lowest price, on sale I think).

Fast-forward many years later, and while I still have both the K-1000 and the Vivtar lens, there are lots more toys in the kit
